Once in a while, things seem to come together. That is the way Solo in Del Rio worked out. In the midst of adjusting to Active Duty Air Force life as a Chaplain, I was inspired to continue a personal tradition of recording music. God put music into my soul and it has always been a therapeutic gift for me. After buying a new Boss BR-600 digital recorder, I just went to work laying down tracks. I went back in the archives of my former civilian life in Missouri to dig up some original tunes laying long dormant, along with other songs in which I applied my own strange interpretation. I used a Gibson A-5 mandolin, D-3 Collins and Randolph guitars, and fretless Yamaha Bass. I used a half rack tube pre-amp/compressor. I used the built-in condenser mics in the Boss for the acoustic work. I also utilitized computer recording programs; Cubase and Adobe Audition mostly for mastering. I thank Miriam for the logo and Yesh for designing the website. He also helped me figure out some of the technical matters on recording. Heather and Josiah provided moral support which kept me going through a very busy time. One last thing: I am currently working on a plugged in jazz-eclectic project featuring mostly original tunes which will be dubbed "Elec-ticity."
